Watches & connections
Exporting to the Apple Watch is a Pro feature and strictly requires watchOS 26. Trait only ever hands today's workout over to Apple Fitness on your iPhone; if your Watch is connected to your iPhone, it lands there automatically and is offered to you when you start a run. Workouts for the coming days deliberately don't appear yet.
If a workout doesn't show up on your Apple Watch, check these four things:
How the export works technically: Since watchOS 26, apps can hand over their own workouts to Apple Fitness on the iPhone in a format strictly defined by Apple. That's exactly what Trait does with today's workout. If your Watch is connected to your iPhone, the workout lands on the watch automatically: when you start a run there, the Watch offers you your planned Trait workout alongside the free run. Normally you don't have to add anything manually. The workout then doesn't run in a Trait app on the Watch, but entirely within Apple's environment – just like a workout you created yourself in Apple's Workout app.
The run you record on your Watch comes back into Trait via Apple Health. No specific watchOS version is needed for the import.
Everything checks out and the workout is still missing? This is very rare. Once Trait has successfully handed the workout over to Apple Fitness, the sync between iPhone and Watch is up to Apple – we can't see why it fails in individual cases and unfortunately can't fix it either. What often helps: restart both your Watch and iPhone, update both devices to the latest version, and make sure the Watch is connected to your iPhone.
If the Watch starts a different workout than the one shown, or the workout gets cut off, that's also on Apple's side – find out more in The Watch starts a different workout or stops.
