Predictions & stats
Trait automatically detects personal bests from your activities. Due to faulty raw data (e.g. GPS jumps), this doesn't always work. You can correct wrong values via “Enter your own personal bests”. Important: personal bests have no influence on your training paces.
Trait tries to automatically detect your personal bests from your imported and recorded activities. That's harder than it sounds – and not always reliable.
Watches and services essentially only deliver raw data to Trait: GPS coordinates and timestamps. Trait calculates pace and splits from that itself. If the GPS signal jumps briefly, it looks like a sprint. Example: in a 21 km run with a GPS jump, Trait wrongly detects two or three extremely fast kilometres – and with them a personal best you never actually ran. More on that under Why does a run show implausible values?
That's exactly what the “Enter your own personal bests” feature is for. Enter your actual time there and it will replace the wrongly detected value.
To be honest: “Enter your own personal bests” is meant for correcting such detection errors – not as an archive of your PBs from the past few years. The feature plays a minor role in Trait.
Your training paces come from your Feelgood pace, your ratings in the Checkout, the heart rate analysis and the assessment run. Personal bests play no part in that. The tip sometimes given in the past to enter your target time as a personal best so the paces fit is therefore wrong – please don't do it. If your paces don't feel right, you'll find the right levers in the category “Paces & Zones”.
